Waltham Girl Dragged By Car Finally Heads Home From Hospital
BOSTON (CBS) - It was an emotional send-off from the hospital Friday for a homeward-bound 14-year-old Waltham girl who was dragged by a car that hit her as she walked home from school two months ago.
Jennifer Bermudez Teo is still in a wheelchair after five surgeries. She had a broken pelvis, ribs, and collarbone. "The lady just came out of nowhere full speed, and hits me and my friend, and I was hit on the ground, and I was rolled, and I was pinned," she explained.
The 18-year-old behind the wheel of that car was cited for negligent driving. Inessa Pojidaev is due in court April 17th. "What I hope, is to have some justice because what happened is just not fair," said Jennifer's mother, Francisca Bermudez Teo. "I don't think it's fair that she ends up with so much damage, and the person who caused this has no consequences."
The 14-year-old said she dreams of dancing on her 15th birthday. "She will not be running or dancing in the immediate future," said Dr. David Leslie, who's been treating her at Franciscan Hospital For Children in Brighton. He promises she will dance someday though. For now, finally heading home is a huge step for her.
