Volunteers Team Up In Foxboro To Send Troops Hundreds Of Care Packages
FOXBORO (CBS) – Dozens of volunteers participated in a packing party Sunday in Foxboro, putting together 500 care packages for soldiers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The care package production line at the American Legion Hall in Foxboro was a combined effort of Hero Helpers of America and Heartillery Group.

Lauren Eliopoulous, founder of Hero Helpers, told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Kim Tunnicliffe that she started sending care packages when her brother now serving in Afghanistan first got out of boot camp.
Her efforts began with 20 boxes and have since expanded to hundreds.
Eliopoulous said the feedback from troops has been tremendous.
"They love it," she said. "We get cards back from them. We get pictures. They are so grateful. This is really, really important. It's like opening a package on Christmas Day."
The packages contain many basic necessities such as razors, baby wipes, chap sticks and other toiletries. There's also room for treats such as beef jerky, granola bars and protein bars.
Among the other handy items being sent are car air fresheners, which soldiers use to make the less-than-fragrant rooms where they bunk a little more tolerable.
