Vigil Held For Brockton Woman Found Dead
BROCKTON (CBS) --- A vigil was held for the Brockton women found dead on May 16th. The family said the death is a case of domestic violence. The Plymouth District Attorney's office has only said it is a death investigation.
Florence Beaulieu, 38, was found by her teenaged daughter after school. Her body was in their first floor apartment on Forest Avenue.
Beaulieu's four children attended the vigil held on the front porch, along with about 40 other people.
It was organized by the Association of Haitian Women to take a stand against domestic violence.
Mishnah Beaulieu found her mother's body. She choked back tears in front of the crowd and said, "My mom, she was my soul. Everybody said she helped you guys in someway. She couldn't help herself."
Two days before Beaulieu was found dead, she had withdrawn a restraining order against her estranged husband. Neither the D.A. nor police have publically named a suspect in her death.
Brockton's top cop attended the vigil.
"We're going to get the guy, the person, who did this," said Bob Hayden, interim Brockton Police Chief.
Beaulieu's father said they are trying to get custody of the four children who are currently staying with a cousin.
