Verizon Hack: Data Stolen From Big Business Customers

NEW YORK (AP) — Hackers have stolen contact information of Verizon business customers in the latest breach of a big company or organization.

The New York telecommunications giant said Thursday that its Verizon Enterprise Solutions unit, which provides IT services to big companies, recently discovered and fixed a security vulnerability in a client portal. Verizon says it is notifying customers.

It says no data about consumer customers was involved in the breach.

A Thursday report from security journalist Brian Krebs says a post in a "closely guarded underground cybercrime forum" earlier this week advertised that a database with the contact information of 1.5 million Verizon business customers was for sale.

Verizon did not immediately respond to questions about what the security issue was, how it was discovered and how many customers are affected.
