Logan Passenger Charged Following Bomb Mention On Plane
BOSTON (CBS) -- An Uxbridge man faced a judge Thursday after allegedly making comments alluding to a bomb while on board a plane at Logan Airport.
Dennis Campbell, 55, was on United Airlines flight 439 on Wednesday when he allegedly referenced a bomb in his bag tucked in the overhead bin.
According to his attorney, Campbell was joking when he said, "careful when we land or the bag could come flying out of there like a bomb."
"He unfortunately used a word that begins with a 'B' on an airplane, and I think it's very unfortunate that common sense didn't prevail," Campbell's attorney Patrick Sheehan told WBZ-TV.
"He absolutely had no intentions of doing anything wrong," Sheehan said.
State Police boarded the plane but did not find explosives in his bag. The incident led the plane to be delayed for nearly an hour.
Campbell was charged with making a false bomb threat.
Campbell posted his $250 bail. A judge ordered him to stay away from airports.
