Upton Man Dies In Apartment Fire
UPTON (CBS) -- An Upton man died in a Thursday morning fire despite efforts by his neighbors to rescue him.
Scott Satow, who friends say was disabled, died in his first floor apartment at 104 Main Street.
His 21 year old son Jake had to be comforted after he arrived on scene shortly after noon.
The fire reached three alarms in a three story apartment building with five units.
The Upton fire chief says the building is almost 100 years old and that contributed to it spreading quickly. The chief also says an Upton police detective happened to be walking by after the fire broke out around 1130 Thursday morning and was able to help pull one resident from the front door.
The State Fire Marshal praised the efforts of Upton fire for preventing the blaze from spreading.
