Ty Law, Junior Seau Among 26 Semifinalists For 2015 Pro Football Hall Of Fame Class

BOSTON (CBS) - Former great Ty Law already has a red Patriots Hall of Fame jacket, and now he's one step closer to getting a yellow Pro Football Hall of Fame Jacket.

Junior Seau also appears to be Canton-bound.

It was announced Tuesday night during an NFL Network special that Ty Law and Junior Seau are among the 26 semifinalists for the 2015 Pro Football Hall of Fame class. Both players are in their first year of eligibility, which comes after five years of retirement.

Law was a five-time Pro Bowler, two-time All Pro and three-time Super Bowl champion.

Seau was a 12-time Pro Bowler, eight-time first team All Pro and was an integral member of the 2007 undefeated Patriots team. On May 2, 2012, Seau's girlfriend found him dead with a gunshot wound to the chest in his California home.

Seau was believed to be suffering from chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE -- a condition traced to repeated head trauma. Seau's brain was donated for scientific research, but those findings were never released out of respect to the Seau family's right to privacy.

The original field of 113 nominees was cut to 26 on Tuesday, and  those 26 will be cut to 15 in early January. Out of the 15 modern-era finalists, the Class of 2015 will then be officially selected and announced on January 31.
