Two Pedestrians Rushed To Hospital After Being Hit By Car In Cambridge
CAMBRIDGE (CBS) - Two people were rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital with serious injuries after they were hit by a car in Cambridge Sunday night.
Massachusetts State Police said a 2019 Nissan Altima hit a man and a woman in a crosswalk just before 8 p.m. on Monsignor O'Brien Highway at Land Boulevard. Both were "thrown significant distances by the impact," police said in a statement.
The driver, a 62-year-old man from Somerville, stopped after the crash and was interviewed by detectives. He was not hurt and has not been charged at this point in the investigation.
No names have been made public. Police said the man is 34 years old and from Boston and the woman is 27 years old and from Winthrop.
Pedestrians told WBZ-TV it's a dangerous intersection.
"There's just a lot of traffic and cars are going very fast and a lot of people run the light," said Emily Brown, who walks in the area.
