Tuukka Rask Out Through Weekend After Leaving With Injury Thursday Night
BOSTON (CBS) -- Tuukka Rask made his return for the Bruins on Thursday night, but it did not last long. Now the goaltender will miss this weekend's action.
Rask left Thursday night's loss to the Islanders after the first period, and Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy said Friday that his top goalie won't play in either of Boston's games this weekend.
Rask was at the team's facilities Friday morning to get treatment. He hadn't played since March 7 with back discomfort before his brief return Thursday night.
"I don't believe there's anything major there, but obviously something is going on where he had to leave the game again with a similar injury to last time," Cassidy said Friday morning. "We assumed he was ready to play, that's why he was in. He said he was, medical staff [said he was], but obviously we have to keep a closer eye on it if it's something that's gonna flare up."
Rask stopped all six shots that went his way before departing Thursday night, and was in line to get the 300th win of his career had the Bruins held on to their 2-0 lead. But they did not, as Jaroslav Halak allowed four goals on 21 Islanders shots in relief of the injured Rask.
