Jones: Don't Blame Rask For Bruins' Struggles

BOSTON (CBS) -- It's been the narrative for almost the entire season for the Boston Bruins: Tuukka Rask may not be at his best all the time, but he can only do so much in goal when he has such a porous defense in front of him.

That didn't stop hockey legend Don Cherry from positing his own reason for why the Bruins, who have scored the fourth-most goals in the NHL with 233, have struggled of late: Rask "can't stop a beach ball."

Adam Jones took issue with this comment and the criticism of Rask in general, which he believes is excessive. He wonders what Rask could have done in certain situations, like a Patrick Kane breakaway against the Chicago Blackhawks.

"What's [Rask] supposed to do when Joe Morrow's giving away the puck and Patrick Kane's coming in at a billion miles an hour?" said Jones.

"While on the one hand I say 'OK, Tuukka's not having his best year.' Is he the reason they have been backsliding for the past month? That feels to me to be too strong. Saying he cant stop a beach ball is too strong. Look at the play in front of him."
