A tractor-trailer jack-knifed and several cars crashed shortly after 6 a.m. in the eastbound lanes near the Route 30 exit in Natick.
One car was stuck underneath the tandem trailer.
State Police said there were major delays because of injuries, a fuel spill, and the debris cleanup.
The backup extended as far back as Southboro.
Route 9 is usually an alternative route, but State Police said there was a backup on Route 9 east due to a broken pike near Oak Hill Road in Southboro.
All lanes of the Mass Pike were reopened around 7:40 a.m., State Police said.
