Tornado Touches Down On Cape Cod

BOSTON (CBS) -- The National Weather Service confirms a tornado briefly touched down in Woods Hole Monday morning.

According to the NWS, a waterspout in Vineyard Sound came ashore in Woods Hole and then quickly dissipated.

The tornado was an EF 0 and had maximum wind speeds of 60-65 mph

Tornado warnings were issued for parts of Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard. Both Barnstable and Dukes counties saw tornado warnings issued shortly before 10 a.m.

WBZ-TV meteorologists said there were indications of rotation in the area.

Falmouth Public Schools tweeted that all students were moved to interior sections of buildings on the ground floor to wait out the severe weather.

It is the seventh tornado confirmed in Massachusetts this year.
