Tornado Touched Down In Norton, National Weather Service Confirms
NORTON (CBS) --The National Weather Service confirmed Wednesday that a tornado touched down in Norton during a strong storm Tuesday afternoon.

The NWS said the tornado was an EF1, with winds of 90 to 95 mph. It touched down at approximately 4:13 p.m. on Freeman Street and traveled northeast to Reservoir Street. Several trees and branches fell onto homes.
Earlier Tuesday afternoon, the same storm cell produced an EF1 tornado in Lincoln, Rhode Island. The tornado had estimated maximum wind speeds of 90-100 miles per hour.
Skyeye flew over the damaged area Wednesday morning and crews were already working to clear downed trees.
The tornado in Rhode Island initially touched down in North Providence and strengthened as it moved north into Lincoln. The tornado caused extensive damage on Angell Road and Riata Drive, including numerous uprooted or snapped trees and shingles blown off of several houses.
A tornado warning had been issued across southeastern Massachusetts and northern Rhode Island as a line of thunderstorms moved through the area. In Massachusetts, the warning was in effect for parts of Norfolk, Bristol, and Plymouth County from about 3:30 until 4:30 p.m.
