Torey Krug On Healthy Scratch: 'Trust That Coaches Are Making The Right Decisions'
BOSTON (CBS) - Torey Krug watched last night's Bruins game from the press box, as the young defenseman was scratched for the first time all season.
Right off the bat, Gresh and Zolak asked him what it's like being scratched. He had a team-oriented response.
"It's tough, you know? I speak for every guy in that locker room when I say that you want to play every single game, and you want to play as much as you can," Krug said. "At the same time you trust the coaching staff, you trust that they're making the right decisions."
Krug went on to say that watching from the ninth floor of the Garden is a learning experience, and that the success of playing a simple game is evident. He said that it all seems faster at ice level, so watching from above gives a scratch the opportunity to view a slower game.
The conversation then shifted to Wednesday night's win over the Canadiens. Krug said that it gave the team a greater sense of confidence, and echoed the importance of getting their swagger back.
When asked about the Bruins' Swedish Man of Mystery, aka Carl Soderberg, Krug spoke highly of his teammate.
"It's great that he's coming to play at the right time," Krug said.
He also added that he's the best-dressed Bruin, another intangible that adds to the notion that statistics don't tell all of Soderberg's story.
The guys also touched upon what it's like to play with Zdeno Chara, Claude Julien's 300th career coaching win, and what a healthy scratch's routine is on game day.
