Top 10 Greatest Dunks In Slam Dunk Contest History
BOSTON (CBS) - NBA All-Star weekend has arrived!
With Wizards guard John Wall not defending his Slam Dunk title, participants Giannis Antetokounmpo, Victor Oladipo, Zach LaVine and Mason Plumlee will compete to be crowned this year's champion.
But before they take center stage this weekend, lets re-live the top 10 greatest dunks from the past, in no particular order.
10) Spud Webb Soars
The 5'7" Spud Webb pulled off an amazing dunk by bouncing the ball high into the air and slamming it down. The dunk won Webb the contest over famed dunker Dominique Wilkins.
9) Nate Robinson Jumps Over Dwight Howard
It's impressive enough that 5'7" Spud Webb could dunk. What's even better is 5'9" Nate Robinson dunking over Dwight Howard. Robinson ended up winning the 2009 contest.
8) Javale McGee Dunks Two Balls
Dunking one ball is already difficult enough for players. But dunking two balls ... this has to be in the top 10! McGee should've won the dunk contest with this move but apparently Blake Griffin dunking over the hood of a car is more impressive.
7) Jason Richardson Did What?!
If Jason Richardson is known for anything, it's his monster dunking skills. Richardson ended up winning the 2003 contest with this dunk.
6) Dominique Wilkins Angry Windmill
The Human Highlight Film was able to capture the 1985 contest with this famous windmill dunk.
5) Vince Carter Arm Hang
Vince Carter's arm hang dunk left the whole arena in shock.
4) Andre Iguodala Behind The Glass Reverse Dunk
I would not be surprised if Andre Iguodala called the police after the 2006 contest, because he was robbed.
3) DeMar DeRozan Reverse Windmill
Derozan's reverse windmill dunk in the 2011 contest may not seem special at first. Once you see it in slow-mo, the dunk is absolutely stunning.
2) Vince Carter 360 Windmill
It shouldn't surprise you that Carter has made it twice on the top 10 list. The 360 windmill dunk is something that Carter will always be known for.
1) Air Jordan
Besides being in discussion as best basketball player in NBA history, Jordan is most likely in discussion as well for best dunk in Slam Dunk history with this 1987 iconic free throw line dunk.
