1 Injured In Small Explosion At Tewksbury Work Site

TEWKSBURY (CBS) -- A man was injured in a small explosion at a work site in Tewksbury Monday morning.

He was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Tewksbury Fire Marshal said the department responded to the work site around 8:30 a.m. for a fire in a box truck that held power washing units. He said Tewksbury Fire and Police departments were investigating the accident, along with the State Fire Marshal's office.

Rev. Dwight Hoeberechts was with parishioners in a nearby church when he heard the explosion, which he said made a "little loud boom."

"It got my attention, it got all of our attentions that something happened," said Hoeberechts. "One person thought it was a door that just slammed in the church, but I said it was more than just a door slamming."

As the accident caused a work-related injury, OSHA is also conducting an investigation.
