Man Impersonating Police Officer Allegedly Assaults Tewksbury Driver
TEWKSBURY (CBS) – Police released a sketch of a man they say impersonated an officer, pulled a woman over on the side of Interstate 495, then assaulted her.
The alleged incident took place around December 2015 or early January 2016 on I-495 in Tewksbury just prior to Route 38. Police released a sketch of the suspect on Wednesday.
A woman says she was stopped by an older model Chevy Impala that she believed was an unmarked police cruiser.
The victim says a man used a spotlight to pull her over. He then allegedly approached the woman and asked her for her license and registration.
Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan says the suspect "subsequently assaulted her by inappropriate touching" before the woman drove away.
The suspect is described as a dark-skinned Hispanic or Dominican man with no accent.
He is about 5'3" tall with a thin face and sunken eyes, weighing around 130-140 pounds. Police say the man has short hair and stud earrings in each ear.
During the incident, the suspect was wearing a gold star shaped badge that was hanging around his neck.
Any driver who recognizes the suspect is asked to call State Police at (978) 475-3800 or the Middlesex State Police Destectives at (781) 897-6621.
In addition, anyone who believes a similar situation is happening to them is asked to call 911 if there is a safe opportunity to do so.
