TD Garden Offers Peek At $70 Million Construction Project
BOSTON (CBS) - With construction well underway for a $70 million makeover at TD Garden, crews offered a sneak peek on Thursday.
Some of the changes include concourse renovations, infrastructure to support high-density wifi, and updated food and beverage concepts across the board.
The renovation will also include a new ProShop on level 2 of the arena, comprehensive renovation of Legends Club.
Members of the media were on hand Thursday for a tour of the work. Perhaps the highlight of the tour was not the construction, but the appearance by the universally loved Boston Bruins mascot, who was posing as a construction worker.
The renovations are expected to last for two years, but the Garden will remain open throughout, and officials say they expect any disruptions to be minimal.
"The Jacobs family is committed to bringing fans a first class experience every time they enter the TD Garden, and we believe that these improvements will make our building the standard by which other venues are measured," Principal of Delaware North Companies and Boston Bruins Charlie Jacobs said in a statement. "As you can see today, we are working tirelessly through the summer months to ensure that our fans will experience the industry leading hospitality that they deserve when they arrive at the TD Garden to support the Bruins and Celtics, and all our events next season."
