Taunton Stabbing Victim's Children Remember Their Mother Fondly

BOSTON (CBS) -- Four of Patricia Slavin's six children stood outside her church in Taunton Saturday morning and insisted their mom would have already forgiven her killer.

Police say the 80-year-old was stabbed to death by Arthur DaRosa earlier this week during a stabbing rampage in Taunton when he entered her house on Myricks Street after crashing his car nearby.

Stephen, Frederick, Stephanie and Daniel Slavin say their mom was dedicated to church and helping people.

"This was her home away from home," said one son. "This was her passion."

"She was one of the nicest people you would ever want to meet," said another son. "She had such a strong faith. (She was) just amazing."

Patricia's daughter, Kathleen Slavin, 58, who was also stabbed in the attack, has been released from the hospital on Friday.

Her funeral is scheduled for Wednesday morning at the Holy Family Parish on Middleboro Avenue in Taunton following a wake on Tuesday evening.
