Woman found stabbed to death in Goffstown, NH home

GOFFSTOWN, NH - A woman was found stabbed to death in a home in Goffstown, New Hampshire Tuesday afternoon.

Police responded to the home on Joffre Street at about 2:20 p.m. and found an active fire and the body of 70-year-old Linda Tufts.

Officers extinguished the fire and found Tufts' son, 47-year-old Thomas Humphrey, injured from "apparent self-inflicted knife wounds" inside the home. Humphrey was taken to the hospital.

Tufts and Humphrey both lived in the home where they were found.

An autopsy determined Tufts' cause of death was multiple stab wounds and the manner of her death was homicide.

Police continue to investigate what happened but say there is no threat to the public.
