'Let's Go Ram Hunting': East Boston Auto Shop Continues Tradition With Super Bowl Display
EAST BOSTON (CBS) - A unique type of Patriots pride is on display at a spot in East Boston that has become a tradition whenever New England goes to the Super Bowl. It's Danilchuk's Auto Body on Route 1A and they really know how to get ready for Super Bowl Sunday.
The message couldn't be clearer, two vehicles, face to face, a customized Ford with a cutout of Bill Belichick at the wheel versus a run-down Dodge Ram.
Tom Brady is portrayed as an archer, aiming for his opposition.
"We went with 'hunting the Rams' for the theme. Our family, we're hunters so it seemed fitting," says Eric Danilchuk.
At his family's auto body shop in Eastie, they come up with a new theme every time the Pats go to the big game.
"My father started the tradition way back in the day. It's something fun and it kind of took off from there and now all our customers, every year, they look forward to it," Danilchuk says.
And so do drivers and people walking by. "It definitely caught my attention. I do think that's quite accurate. I do think Tom Brady is going to head hunt Jared Goff and I'm excited to see the game for sure. Go Pats," says Lucas Silva who took some selfies at the display.
And as game day grows nearer, the excitement ratchets up. "It gets wild out here, especially Friday and Saturday. Route 1A is going to be backed up. We'll have it lit up and hundreds of people will be out here taking pictures, so yeah, it's pretty cool," Danilchuk says.
