Patriots Fans Show Super Bowl Spirit With Rallies In Minnesota And At Home
FOXBORO (CBS) – Fans on Saturday got into the Super Bowl spirit in New England and beyond.
Patriots Nation held rallies in Foxboro and Minnesota before the Patriots play the Eagles in Minnesota.
In Foxboro, fans held a rally and march to Town Common, followed by another rally at Patriot Place at Gillette Stadium.
WBZ-TV's Jim Smith reports from Foxboro:
A party was held outside Splitsville Luxury Lanes, complete with Pat the Patriot and a petting zoo with five live goats.
Fans wearing Patriots gear were allowed to skate for free at the Patriot Place ice rink.
Over in Minneapolis, meanwhile, the Patriots held a rally for fans who made the trip.
Fans wore their Patriots gear and chanted: "We're not done! We're not done!"
New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft energized to the crowd.
"Some of our competitors say they only want to go to Super Bowls in warm climates. We're embracing Minnesota!" Kraft said as snowflakes fell in the frigid Minnesota air.
Shannon Savage was right up front in the crowd. She saved money all year to buy her first Super Bowl ticket.
"I went to all the games this season and I froze my butt off, so I'll keep doing it here," she said.
The highlight of the pep rally was when one lucky fan, Rob Powell of Westwood, caught a ball with a star on it, meaning he won tickets to the Super Bowl.
"We were looking for tickets. We were about to spend a lot of money on some tickets. Now we don't have to," he said.
