Driver cited in State Trooper cruiser crash on Route 24
AVON — A speeding car crashed into two State Trooper cruisers after rolling over on Saturday morning.
At around 9 a.m., two State Troopers were conducting a traffic stop when a driver of a Dodge Journey lost control of his vehicle, striking a Jeep Wrangler that had slowed down to move over for the troopers. After hitting the Jeep, the Dodge rolled over and crashed into the two cruisers.
Both troopers were standing outside their vehicles when the accident happened and avoided getting hit by the Dodge. Their cruisers were marked Ford Explorer Patrol vehicles and parked in the breakdown lane with the emergency lights on.
The driver of the Dodge, a 37-year-old man from Middleboro, was evaluated on scene by a Brewster Emergency Services ambulance crew who were driving by but refused additional medical attention.
The driver of the Jeep, a 31-year-old woman from Raynham, was not injured.
The man responsible for the crash was cited for speeding, failure to move over for an emergency vehicle, marked lanes violation, and driving an unregistered motor vehicle.
All vehicles besides the Jeep sustained major damages and had to be towed from the scene. The Jeep sustained moderate damage.
