Sox Activate Napoli From DL, Hassan Goes Back To Pawtucket

BOSTON (CBS) – The Red Sox today activated first baseman Mike Napoli from the 15-day disabled list Sunday.

He was in the starting lineup for the Red Sox in their Sunday night game against the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park.

Napoli, 32, was placed on the disabled list on May 25 with a sprained left fourth finger, which was originally dislocated during a headfirst slide on April 15 in Chicago against the White Sox.

To make room for Napoli on the 25-man roster, outfielder/first baseman Alex Hassan was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket.

Hassan grew up in Milton and starred at Boston College High School before being signed by the Red Sox as a 20th-round selection in the 2009 June Draft.
