Snow Blitz: Boston Sets Record For Snowiest 7-Day Period

BOSTON (CBS) -- After several weeks that had Boston residents wondering where Old Man Winter was, the city is seeing snow pile up at a historic rate.

The National Weather Service confirmed that, as of 1 p.m. Monday, Boston had set a new record for snowiest seven-day period with 34.2 inches of snow.

The old record was 31.2 inches for a period ending Jan. 8, 1996, according to the weather service.

Monday's Snow: Who Has The Most?

The Blizzard of 2015 from January 26-28 dropped 24.6 inches in the city, making it the sixth-biggest snowstorm in Boston on record.

Up to 14 inches of snow was expected from Monday's storm in Boston.
