Sex Offender Charged In Arlington Kidnapping & Rape To Stay Behind Bars

ARLINGTON (CBS) - A convicted sex offender accused of breaking into an Arlington woman's home and raping and beating her will stay behind bars.

Essie L. Billingslea, 45, of Boston waived a dangerousness hearing on Friday.

He's charged with aggravated rape, kidnapping, home invasion, assault and battery, and armed assault in a dwelling.

Billingslea is a Level 3 registered sex offender with a history of violence.

According to court records, Billingslea was convicted of rape of a child with force in 1989, indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 in 1995 and a rape and abuse charge in 1995.

In 2006, Billingslea was found to be a sexually dangerous person and was committed to the Massachusetts Treatment Center in Bridgewater Correctional Complex.

A judge twice denied petitions by Billingslea to be declared not sexually dangerous. But in March 2013, a jury found he was no longer sexually dangerous and he was released.

Billingslea, who is being held without bail, is due back in court on July 2.
