Severe Thunderstorms...

The air certainly feels different today with dew points in the lower 70s...there is ample moisture surging northward up the Eastern Seaboard a key ingredient for strong to severe thunderstorms.  Another ingredient is the sun...it heats the air near the ground so that it can rise into the sky forming towering thunderheads.  Some areas are breaking into sunshine and others are still socked in with clouds...today's storms will be highly sun dependent...the more you get, the better chance you see a storm.  Today's storms will contain torrential rain leading to flash flooding, damaging wind gusts and while unlikely, a brief tornado is possible.  The areas I'm most concerned for are Western MA, Central MA and Southern NH.  So if the sky looks threatening or you hear thunder, it's best to get indoors.

This is Hi-Res model of future radar this afternoon with dangerous storms likely in Central and Western New England.
