Secret Santa Hands Out $100 Bills On Cape Cod

HYANNIS (CBS) - Santa's not due in town for more than a week, but he may have been giving out goodies a little early on Cape Cod.

In the past few days, a man who looked like old Saint Nick handed out envelopes of cash at two coffee shops in Hyannis. Just ask the staff at Mary Lou's.

"He just came in wearing a cowboy hat, kind of looked like Santa Claus, the beard," Mary Lou's employee Brittany Coy said.

The mystery man came in to the coffee shop the other day and gave the entire staff $100 tips stuffed in an envelope that reads 'Merry Christmas.' Now that's a stocking stuffer.

"I literally had a girl almost break down in tears in how much excitement, because she really needed a hundred dollars," Coy said. "People with children here, they're so excited because they have an extra hundred dollars for Christmas."

But the Cape Cod Kris Kringle wasn't done. He hit fast food spots throughout Hyannis including Dunkin Donuts.

"He just came in asked how many people were working here," Patrick Nee said. "I told him how many we had and he pulled out little envelopes, said there was a hundred dollars for each person in here and said make sure everybody got one."

People here say this isn't the first time. The anonymous Saint Nick apparently makes this an annual event. Staffers at Burger King also got a taste of the holiday generosity.

"He's done this every year around Christmas time, last year it was fifty dollars, this year it was a hundred dollars," Clorissa DeCosta Hicks said. "He gives it to literally every single employee that's here."
