Second Victim Of Orange Home Invasion Dies

ORANGE (AP) — A Massachusetts woman whose 95-year-old husband was killed when they were attacked in their home has also died from her injuries.

Seventy-seven-year-old Joanna Fisher, of Orange, died Thursday morning at a hospital, according to Witty's Funeral Home in her hometown.

Fisher and her husband, Thomas Harty, were attacked by two suspects on Oct. 5. Authorities say Harty was stabbed and Fisher's throat was cut.

Police charged 23-year-old Joshua Hart and 27-year-old Brittany Smith, both of Athol, with murder and other crimes in the home invasion. They have pleaded not guilty.

Authorities said Hart and Smith were looking for a car and money so they could leave Massachusetts and avoid charges in an unrelated case. They were arrested days after the home invasion outside a Wal-Mart in Rockbridge County, Virginia.
