Red Sox Employee, Girlfriend Killed In Beacon Street Crash
BOSTON (CBS) – A Red Sox employee and his girlfriend were killed in a crash in the Back Bay late Saturday night.
Jack Lanzillotti, 28, and Jessica Campbell, 27, both of Brookline, were walking near the corner of Beacon and Fairfield Streets just after 9 p.m. when they were hit by a car.
Police say one car had collided with another in the intersection, rolled over and hit Lanzillotti and Campbell.
Lanzillotti was pronounced dead at the scene.
Campbell was rushed to Brigham and Women's Hospital where police said Sunday she later died.
Campbell worked at Kantar Retail in Boston and graduated from Northeastern University.
Lanzillotti, a native of Shrewsbury and a graduate of Boston University, was the Manager of Red Sox Productions and Game Operations, according to the team.
"He loved his job. He loved his family. He loved his girlfriend," said Lanzillotti's mother, Patricia Lanzillotti. "He was a great kid."
She said he started with the Sox as an intern in college and liked working so much he was excited to see his name on the schedule.
"RIP my friend. I will miss working with you," Michael Narracci, a remote TV director with the Red Sox, wrote on his Twitter page.
Charles Steinberg, executive vice president of the Red Sox, said Lanzillotti joined the team in 2007.
"He worked his way up, earning the respect of everybody, to becoming the manager of the control room," Steinberg told WBZ-TV. "So when you came to Fenway, those were many of his video vignettes that you enjoyed."

"He was artistic, conscientious, and dedicated as could be," Steinberg remarked. "He just loved the Red Sox organization and we all are really suffering today."
Patricia Lanzillotti said Jack and Jessica, who lived together in Brookline, were both very fun-loving and very responsible, career-oriented people.
She said they were out on the Esplanade taking pictures of the sunset before the crash.
Campbell posted this photo of the sunset on the Esplanade Saturday evening, shortly before the crash.
On Sunday, a small bouquet of flowers sat beneath a street sign at the accident scene on the corner of Beacon and Fairfield Streets.
One note left with flowers read: "John and Jessica you will never be forgotten."
Area residents told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Kim Tunnicliffe many cars go much too fast on busy Beacon Street.
"This corner, as well as several other corners in Back Bay are very dangerous," one neighbor said. "We need to do something about it."
Two people in the first car in Saturday's crash were taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center with what police described as "non-life-threatening injuries."
No other information is available at this point in the investigation.
