Fitchburg Man Drowns Off Of Rhode Island Beach
NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (CBS) – Coast Guard crews recovered the body of a missing swimmer from Fitchburg off of Scarborough State Beach in Rhode Island early Monday morning.
Matthew Smith, 64, was last seen swimming Sunday night.
Coast Guard crews Rhode Island and Air Station Cape Cod searched through the night.
Smith was found unresponsive in the water.
WPRI reported that Smith was on vacation and had gone for a swim while his girlfriend walked the dog.
