Santos Moscoso charged with keying 38 vehicles on East Boston street
BOSTON - A man who was already facing several vandalism charges was charged Friday with keying 38 vehicles in East Boston earlier this week.
Boston Police arrested 47-year-old Santos Moscoso of East Boston Thursday. He's charged with 38 counts of "willful and malicious destruction of property over $1,200," police said.
There's no word yet on a motive for the vandalism. But at his arraignment Friday in East Boston District Court, the prosecutor said Moscoso already had four open cases of vandalism before this latest incident on January 3.
Investigators say he went up and down Bremen Street that morning and keyed 38 vehicles. Much of it was recorded by security cameras, the prosecutor said.
In some instances, insurance will not cover the vandalism. "The personal destruction of property in the city is unbelievable," Nikki Mackin, who had her car keyed, told WBZ-TV Wednesday.
The judge ordered Moscoso to undergo a mental health evaluation.
