Woman Struck While Crossing Street Near Roxbury Community College

ROXBURY (CBS) -- A woman is fighting for her life after she was hit by a car near Roxbury Community College Wednesday morning.

Boston Police said the woman was hit while crossing Malcolm X Boulevard around 6:30 a.m., just as the morning rush began.

They said she was taken to Brigham and Women's Hospital with life-threatening injuries, and that the driver did stop at the scene.

The woman has not yet been identified, and her exact condition was not yet known.

Evidence markers were placed next to her belongings--a cane, glasses, a shoe--which were strewn about after she was hit.

Police blocked two lanes of traffic at noon, and accident reconstruction crews were still working to figure out what happened.

The driver's car was at the scene, and had a cracked front headlight.

There was no word yet on whether or not the driver would face any charges.
