One Seriously Injured In Roxbury Shooting

BOSTON (CBS) – Police are asking the public for help in finding the gunman who shot and seriously wounded one man as he sat in a car in Roxbury.

The brazen daytime shooting occurred on Seaver Street after 2 p.m. Friday. The victim, a man in his mid-20s, suffered life-threatening injuries, police said. No arrests had been made by Friday afternoon and a motive was immediately unclear.

The window of the passenger side of a Black Lexus was completely blown out, after a gunman fired several shots into the vehicle and then fled the scene.

Boston Police Commissioner William B. Evans described the suspect as a black male wearing a black hoodie and black pants.

"These daytime shootings really trouble us because as you can see, (there are) school buses and school kids," Evans said.

Investigators are reviewing surveillance video from a local business that may have captured the shooting.

Evans said he's frustrated by yet another act of gun violence in Boston.

"I've spoken to the mayor. Obviously, he's alarmed by it but again, like we always say, too many young kids running around with guns and this is what we have," Evans said.

Police are asking anyone with information to call their tips line, 1-800-494-TIPS.
