Route 1 Orange Dinosaur Facing Extinction
SAUGUS (CBS) -- The giant orange dinosaur that looms over Route 1 in Saugus could be facing extinction.
The Route 1 Miniature Golf and Batting Cages has been sold to a developer, according to The Saugus Advertiser.
The newspaper reports that the developer is already planning to build a hotel and apartment complex, and the mini golf course land is part of the plan.
The future of the dinosaur is uncertain at best, and the developer says the golf course might stay open one more season.
It's not the only changes drivers have noticed on Route 1 in Saugus. In 2013, the landmark Hilltop Steakhouse closed, and the popular fiberglass cows were auctioned.
