Rondo Returns To Practice, Honors Veterans With Star-Themed Socks
BOSTON (CBS) -- Rajon Rondo returned to practice on Tuesday, and made sure to honor those who have fought for their country in the process.
The Celtics point guard wore special flag-themed socks this Veteran's Day when he hit the practice floor in Waltham:
"It's special what they've done for our country," Rondo told reporters.
Tuesday marked Rondo's first practice since having three screws removed from his left hand over the weekend. He was seen taking jumpers without any brace or wrap on his left hand, which he broke just prior to the season on a fall in the shower.
Rondo had hoped to have the screws removed sometime around the All Star break, but they began to irritate him. He wanted to have them removed on Sunday, so he could play in Saturday's win over the Bulls in Chicago, but the team decided the procedure would be done Saturday morning.
He said he felt fine following Tuesday's practice, and it looks like Rondo will be ready to go Wednesday night when the Celtics host the Oklahoma City Thunder at the TD Garden.
"I feel OK. I feel rested," he said. "It's a little sore but nothing I can't play with."
Through five games this season, Rondo is averaging an NBA-best 11.2 assists to go with nine points and eight rebound per game.
