One Dead In Mattapan Stabbing
BOSTON (CBS) – A man was killed in an overnight stabbing in Mattapan.
The stabbing happened on River Street near Mattapan Square around 3 a.m. The road was closed for hours on Friday morning while Boston police investigated.
The victim was rushed to Boston Medical Center with life-threatening injuries but did not survive. The victim has been identified as 58-year-old Jocelin Nordeus of Mattapan.
"It's just sad that's its happening in this neighborhood," said neighbor Tony Thomas.
A bicycle was in the middle of the road with evidence markers around it. The victim may have been riding it at the time of the attack.
One neighbor recalls seeing the victim recently on a bike. "I saw the bike on the news," said Karen, who works on River Street. "I knew I saw him on that bike yesterday and I said I think it's him."
Thomas added, "A lot of people knew him. He was in the neighborhood for years and he was just well known."
No word yet on any arrests or suspects in the case.
