Rich Keefe's Fantasy Brief: Week 8 Waiver Wire Pickups
BOSTON (CBS) - 98.5 The Sports Hub's Rich Keefe breaks down the big performers in Week 7, as well as some players to pick up for Week 8.
Week 7 Studs:
"Russell Wilson, Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers were the three highest scoring quarterbacks. Demaryius Thomas, Sammy Watkins and Golden Tate were the three highest scoring receivers. A couple of things of note there. Tate is proving to be a very solid fantasy option without Calvin Johnson in the Lions lineup. We've given a lot of credit to Kelvin Benjamin as being the best rookie receiver, but Sammy Watkins is capable of that kind of performance (9 receptions for 122 yards and 2 touchdowns).
"The highest scoring running back this week? Shane Vereen from Thursday night. Matt Forte had the second most -- those two will be facing off this Sunday. Ronnie Hillman, Montee Ball's replacement, had the third best week for running backs."
Week 7 Injuries:
"Both Buffalo Bills running backs went down. They haven't announced it yet, but C.J. Spiller is likely done for the season with a broken collarbone. Fred Jackson went down as well, he'll likely be out for a month. Maybe four games and then he'll be back from a groin injury."
Week 8 Pickups:
"Anthony Dixon will probably be the Bills' no. 1 back with Jackson and Spiller out. The reason I say Dixon is because Bryce Brown was inactive last week, so I think Dixon is higher up the depth chart. Brown had some good games with the Eagles, but I think he also has some fumbling issues. If they're both available, and they probably are, I would go with Dixon on the waiver wire.
"After the Percy Harvin trade I thought it would open up some more opportunities for Doug Baldwin. He had one of the best wide receiver weeks. Baldwin is definitely worth being owned as the Seahawks' no. 1 wide receiver. They don't have a ton of guys on offense, honestly, besides handing the ball of to Lynch."
