Rich Keefe's Fantasy Brief: Replacing Wes Welker
BOSTON (CBS) -- Rich Keefe warned Fantasy Football owners to stay away from Wes Welker, and now the Broncos receiver is suspended for the first four games of the season for testing positive for amphetamines back in May
What kind of trickle down effect will Welker's suspension have in the world of Fantasy Football? Keefe breaks that down in Wednesday night's edition of "Fantasy Brief With Rich Keefe" on 98.5 The Sports Hub's The Adam Jones Show.
Keefe says not to worry about Peyton Manning, who has plenty of other targets to throw to.
"[Manning] could still throw 50 touchdowns this year. He has other receivers; Demaryius Thomas is in line for a monster year, Julius Thomas another monster year," said Keefe. "Eric Decker is gone so that will free up some red zone targets as well, so look for the two Thomas's to come through there.
"Emmanuel Sanders, I like a lot, but he's bordering on bust potential because so many people like him right now. So many people are saying 'if you take Welker and Decker out, Sanders has to get it all.' I think that is a little much," he said. "I still like him and am starting him Week 1 to see how that goes."
Keefe suggests picking up Denver rookie receiver Cody Latimer, but has another Bronco in mind for the early weeks of the season.
"At least in Week 1 and 2, Andre Caldwell -- not a great name -- but he's the guy that is going to get more targets than Cody Latimer," said Keefe.
