Revolution Midfielder Jermaine Jones Called To U.S. National Team

BOSTON (CBS) -- The season may be over for the New England Revolution, but midfielder Jermaine Jones will be busy over the next few weeks.

Jones has been called in to the U.S. National Team for the upcoming CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers against St. Vincent and The Grenadines and Trinidad and Tobago. Those two matches begin the qualifying campaign for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

The 34-year-old Jones has made 54 appearances with the U.S. since making his debut in 2010, netting three goals. He appeared in two international matches in 2015, playing against Mexico and Costa Rica last month.

The U.S. will open CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying on Friday, November 13 when they host St. Vincent and The Grenadines at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. The team will then play its first road qualifier, taking on Trinidad and Tobago on Tuesday, November 17 in Port of Spain.

Jones hit the field for 19 games with the Revs in 2015, helping the club earn a third consecutive postseason berth. In his 34 games with New England since being signed by the club in August 2014, Jones has tallied three goals and six assists.
