1 Killed, Young Girl Jumps To Safety During Fire At Revere Triple-Decker
REVERE (CBS) – One person was killed during an overnight fire at a Revere triple-decker. It happened on Thornton Street around 2 a.m.
Three people were trapped as flames ripped through the building. Two were able to escape.
The Revere Fire Department confirmed one person did not survive. Two people were taken to the hospital.
"When firefighters entered the room where the third person was located, it appeared the room had flashed over. Every item within the room had been on fire," said Deputy Fire Chief Glen Rich.
Witnesses said a young girl climbed out a window on the second floor and onto an overhang. She then jumped to the ground below where people were waiting to help her.
The girl had burns, but her injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
There is no information yet on what caused the fire.
A total of 34 people were displaced.
