Suspect In Revere Shot In The Leg By Police; I-Team Sources Say He Fired At Officers

REVERE (CBS) -- A suspect was shot in the leg by police near Broadway and Fernwood Avenue in Revere on Friday night. I-Team sources say the suspect opened fire on officers, but no one was hit.

He was rushed to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury to the leg. There is no information yet on why the officers opened fire.

The incident remains under investigation.

I-Team sources also say the suspect is expected to survive.

Revere Police Chief David Callahan said there was no immediate danger to the public.

"We want to let everyone know that the public is safe. It's an isolated incident and the matter is currently being investigated," Callahan said.
