Revere Robbery Suspect Found In Portable Toilet Following Police Chase
BOSTON (CBS) – A robbery suspect was found hiding in a portable toilet near TD Garden after a police chase and foot pursuit.
Massachusetts State Police said the suspect was wanted by Revere Police for robbing East Boston Savings Bank on Squire Road.
A bank employee saw the man getting away with $1,000. A dye pack on the money exploded as the suspect escaped.
The employee and an off-duty auxiliary Everett Police officer followed the man until Revere Police caught up and began a chase that led into Boston.
State and local police officers swarmed an area near Boston's Nashua Street Jail in pursuit of the suspect, who left his car a short distance away with the windshield wipers running.
A Revere Police cruiser crashed near the suspect's vehicle. The cruiser was on the median next to a toppled street sign.
Revere Police said one officer suffered minor injuries.
After a search on foot, police arrested the suspect in a parking lot near TD Garden.
Officers found a row of portable toilets in the parking lot. All but one of them had a green indicator, meaning no one was inside.
But one of the toilets had a red indicator. When the officer checked that portable toilet, the suspect was inside.
He was later identified as a 41-year-old Woburn man who police believe also robbed East Boston Savings Bank in Everett on November 24.
