Revere Man Dies After Break-In, Struggle With Police, DA Says

REVERE, Mass. (AP) — Officials say a 38-year-old Revere man died after a violent struggle with police after he broke into an apartment building.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine cause of death. The Suffolk District Attorney's office said the man, whose name was not released, had recently been hospitalized for a mental health evaluation.

Police said they found the man "bleeding and combative" Sunday night after he smashed a window and forced his way into a building that was not his residence.

Police said the man released a child who was with him but punched, kicked and bit officers who also used a Taser with no apparent effect. He was eventually restrained and taken to Whidden Hospital, where he died.

The DA's office said doctors saw no sign of physical trauma beyond lacerations from broken glass.
