Report: Steelers Tight Ends Coach Allegedly Assaults Patriots Fan

BOSTON (CBS) -- Headsets and radio signals will not be the only subject investigated by the NFL after Thursday night's game in New England.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Steelers tight ends coach James Daniel allegedly attacked a Patriots fan on the way to the locker room at halftime of Thursday's game.

Schefter reported that Daniel "was seen allegedly kicking a Patriots fan in the back of his leg and yelling at the fan in front of witnesses."

When confronted by police after halftime, Daniel shouted at the police officers, according to Schefter.

NFL security interviewed Daniel after the incident, and the league will continue to investigate. The team is investigating as well.

The Steelers lost, 28-21, on the NFL's opening night in Foxboro.

Daniel has been the team's tight ends coach since 2004.
