Report: Robert Kraft Part Of Bid To Buy UFC
BOSTON (CBS) -- Robert Kraft is a skilled businessman, and according to a report, he's eying a new venture.
ESPN's Darrell Rovell reported that the UFC is fielding two separate bids to purchase the company. The bids -- from WME-IMG and China Media Capital -- will come out to about $4.1 billion.
According to Rovell, WME-IMG has asked investors to contribute between $25 million and $50 million toward the bid. One investor that agreed to sign on was the Kraft Group, per the report.
The Kraft Group, headed by Robert Kraft, owns the New England Patriots, New England Revolution and Patriot Place, among other businesses like International Forest Products LLC.
Granted, a $50 million investment in a $4 billion bid would only amount to an ownership stake of just over 1%. But if the deal were to be accepted, UFC would have a very powerful partner in the nation's largest sporting league, and one who helped the league grow into one that generates record revenues on a yearly basis.
Kraft, 75, attended the UFC event in Boston in August 2013.
