Warriors' Steph Curry says he's playing Game 4 vs. Celtics

BOSTON  -- There was some concern that Steph Curry might not be able to play in Friday night's Game 4 of the NBA Finals against the Celtics after the Warriors guard hurt his ankle late in Wednesday night's Game 3.

That concern was put to bed quickly on Thursday. First, Shams Charania reported that there was optimism that Curry would play on Friday night. Then, Curry himself said he would be suiting up against the Celtics.

"I'm going to play," Curry said Thursday afternoon. "That's all I know right now."

Curry was dinged up late in the fourth quarter Wednesday night when he and Al Horford fought for a loose ball. Horford dove for the ball and landed on Curry's left ankle with just over four minutes to go in the game. Curry played two minutes after the play, when both teams emptied their bench for the final minutes of the Boston win.

Curry dealt with an ankle injury late in the regular season, which came on a similar play when he and Marcus Smart fought for a loose ball in a Boston win in San Francisco.

"Because I went through what I went through in the regular season and coming back, I know exactly what it is and what I've got to deal with and the soreness/pain level and all that," he said Thursday. "So once I got checked out [Wednesday] night, I knew I wouldn't have to go get any extra tests just because we've been through this before.

"There's a good understanding of what it is and all that. I guess comfort knowing I've been through it before, but also, you would rather not have to deal with something like that at this point in the season," he added.

In his 37 minutes in Game 3, Curry scored a game-high 31 points off 12-for-22 shooting. He scored 15 points in the third quarter as the Warriors cut into a big Celtics lead, but was held to just two points in the fourth, hitting just one of his four shots.

For the series, Curry is averaging 31.3 points off 48.5 percent shooting while hitting 48.7 percent of his three-point attempts.
