Report: NFL Working Toward Brady Discipline Without Patriots

BOSTON (CBS) -- The NFL is expected to make a decision on any punishment for Tom Brady and the New England Patriots stemming from the Deflategate controversy in the coming days.

But if you thought the league was working with the team to come to a conclusion, the Boston Herald's Jeff Howe reports that is not the case:

There is a theory that Brady and the Patriots are working with the league to resolve the Deflategate matter, but a variety of sources have told the Herald the NFL is working solely on its own accord to reach a conclusion. There have been zero negotiations between the sides to resolve this matter, and the NFL is not dealing with the Patriots or Brady in any sort of way, according to the sources familiar with the situation.

Sources have told the Herald that a verdict from the NFL is close. Gary Myers of the New York Daily News reported on Friday that Brady would be suspended by the NFL after it was concluded in Ted Wells' 243-page report that Patriots team employees likely deflated footballs and Brady may have known about it, but the league denied that report to The Boston Globe.
