Report: Loui Eriksson Signs Six-Year Deal With Vancouver Canucks

BOSTON (CBS) -- Loui Eriksson is now officially a former member of the Boston Bruins.

The free-agent winger agreed to a six-year deal with the Vancouver Canucks in the opening moments of NHL free agency on Friday, according to Nick Kypreos.

Eriksson, who will turn 31 years old on July 17, spent the last three seasons in Boston, tallying 147 points (62-85-147) in 224 games played. He was acquired, famously, as the centerpiece in the return package for Tyler Seguin in the summer of 2013.

The Bruins tried throughout the season to work out a contract extension with Eriksson, but the two sides remained far apart throughout negotiations. The Bruins did decide to keep Eriksson at the trade deadline instead of moving him for younger and/or cheaper assets, but now he'll leave the Bruins without the team getting anything in return.
