Report: Julian Edelman Has Broken Foot; Status For Rest Of Season In Question
BOSTON (CBS) -- The Patriots won on Sunday, but in the process they may have suffered a major loss.
Julian Edelman left the game after making a catch on the final play of the first quarter, and he did not return to the game.
After the game, a series of reports indicated that Edelman suffered a broken bone in his foot, and that he may not be able to return to the field this season.
Fox Sports' Mike Garafolo had the details, and seemed to indicate that a return in January would be an optimistic outlook.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Edelman could return before the end of the season.
CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora indicated Edelman could miss "a good bit of time."
Including his four catches for 53 yards on Sunday, Edelman has caught 61 passes for 692 yards and a career-high seven touchdowns this season. He suffered the injury after making a catch near the left sideline and fighting through a tackle for extra yards. Linebacker Jasper Brinkley rolled over Edelman while making the tackle, and Edelman immediately showed he was in pain while limping to the sideline.
